Another drenching, but soon they'll be in....

....the capital of culture (2008).

Yes, Johnny & Mark are on their way to Liverpool today but, first, a note about yesterday's ride. They were given, & followed, some advice from a local about which route to take, which was not the one I thought they were on. I think they followed a route through the Benthams & a cycle way over the hills - on Google it looks extremely steep! I wonder if that local 'helpfully' directs all visiting cyclists that way?!! Anyway, when they reached Slaidburn there was a May fair in full swing & they say some of the events looked like a lot of fun but, surprisingly, they didn't grab a ribbon & dance around the maypole themselves :)

So today they set out on the B6478 to Clitheroe & then took the B6243 to Longridge where they found a lovely cafe to have their mid-morning stop. From here they continued westward to Preston, where they will follow the A59/A565 route to Southport, then on to Liverpool itself.

They will spend 2 nights in the land of the Liver Birds having a well-earned rest day &, hopefully, they'll grab a slice of culture too!
